A Greeting From Jenny
Hello and welcome,
I have been an animal lover all my life though am also very fond of my husband, our sons, granddaughters and many other people. Steered away from an acting career, I trained instead for social work, but used those skills rather differently after the move to our present home in Cheshire in 1975, for I started to write poems and light verse. This led to my going into schools, reading my poems to the children and encouraging them with their own writing. Then for many years I was a creative writing tutor to a group of people who were severely disabled.
I have written several books including ‘Poems for Dance,’ then came a book for children to colour, telling the legend of the first Christmas tree. The three current books (more for adults this time) form a kind of trilogy. They can loosely be described as memoir, but memoir with a difference, as the focus always returns to the animals in my life, for home would not be home for me without animal companionship. Do I prefer dogs or cats? Pass. They are both indispensable – cats are poems and dogs are prose.
I hope you may often laugh and sometimes cry at the reminiscences you find in these pages and that you will be enchanted by the skills of two very talented illustrators. It is always rewarding to hear from readers, so if you would like to be in touch I would be delighted to hear from you . Please click here to contact me.
